Frequently Asked Questions About Home Care

Every family's situation is unique, and it's natural to have questions. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

How do we know how much home care is needed?

You do not need to know the exact number of hours before contacting us. During your complimentary consultation, we will talk through your loved one’s routine, current challenges, family support, and goals to help you understand what level of support may make sense.

Can we start with just a few hours each week?

Yes. Many families begin with a few hours of support each week and adjust as needs change. Home care does not have to be all-or-nothing.

Can care increase over time?

Yes. Care plans can grow as needs change. Some families start with companionship or light support and later add personal care, respite, dementia support, or more frequent visits.

Can private home care work alongside AHS home care?

Yes. Many families use private home care to supplement publicly funded services. Private support can help fill gaps such as companionship, longer visits, respite, household support, or additional assistance during the week.

What happens during the consultation?

We listen, ask questions, explain available support options, and help you create a care plan that fits your family’s needs. There is no pressure or obligation.

What if my loved one does not think they need help?

This is very common. Sometimes support is introduced slowly through companionship, conversation, meal support, or help with errands rather than presenting it as “care.”

Do you provide care in retirement residences or care facilities?

Yes. We can provide support at home, in retirement residences, assisted living communities, and long-term care settings.

Do you provide transportation?

We do not provide direct transportation in a caregiver’s personal vehicle. We can accompany clients to appointments, errands, or outings when transportation is arranged through family, taxi, accessible transportation, or another approved service.

Still Have Questions?

We're happy to answer them.

Every family is different, and we'd be glad to talk through your situation with no obligation.
